PINK WASH, 30 April 2025
Architectural Thesis, paint
Pinkwashing is the act of companies, governments, or institutions promoting themselves as supportive of the LGBTQIA2S+ community without actively engaging in meaningful or lasting efforts to support that community.
During the thesis presentation on April 30, 2025, a decision was made to prevent the critique of the presentation from altering the intended meaning of the work. Painting over the presentation serves to protect the identities of the individuals for whom the housing units were designed.
The final presentation of the community-based cohousing project highlights the individuality of each unit, reflecting a broader community of residents. The deliberate removal of common areas and the building façade was intended to keep the focus on the project's core purpose: designing safe and sustainable housing for a specific community in need.
Students, please remember to take care of yourself and stay true to who you are.
